New Season

Today I made a tough decision and left BWC.  I’ve been a part of the outfit for 9 months, have participated in over 130 operations, and built their infiltrator division from the ground up.  It was a tough move to make, and one that I have been wrestling with for a while now.

You won’t hear me saying anything bad about my former outfit, they are a solid group of amazing individuals, who have built a community that has been strong for over 10 years.  I loved my time with them and will miss it quite a bit.

So why the change?  Well, to be frank, the rules in place that the outfit operates by were becoming too restrictive. BWC doesn’t allow cross-faction alts on Mattherson, and at the same time, the outfit has taken a big step back away from the competitive community.  While I may not be the most elite player, I definitely enjoy competing in scrimmages and have participated in 3 community clash events with each one being some of the most fun I’ve had in Planetside2.  I want to keep competing and find other like-minded players to join up with.

This brings me to the next announcement: I’m now officially a member of NoNonsense Gamers [NNG].  They are a VS outfit on Mattherson who has exactly what I am looking for in an outfit and gaming community.  “But… they wear purple!”  Yes, that is a bit of a problem.  Well, this does mean I will roll a VS alt and play with them from time to time, but you can also expect me to spent most of my time still playing TR, supporting our faction through these dark times of overpopulation.

Hopefully that explains some of the change in outfit affiliation.  Some of you probably don’t care at all, and just come here to read about infiltrating and watch my latest video.  Others have played with me a great deal in-game and deserve to know why I am doing this.

Otherwise, my video production and blogging will continue as always, and I look forward to sharing more PS2/infiltrator content with all of you!

Stay Frosty,

Guest on this week’s ReachCast Show!

This week I had the pleasure of joining the hosts of the PS2 podcast, “ReachCast”, Torkz, Noxxia and Deringer.  We discussed the new infiltrator update, various community items, and expressed some excitement for the Amerish patch which just landed.

If you’ve never checked them out, it’s a weekly show that lasts about an hour long and is perfect for commuting, working out or just listening while you perform some menial task each week and want to hear about Planetside.  They’ve been at it for over a year, and each episode keeps getting better and better.

HSR-1 video released!

I’ve been working on this one for the last two weeks or so.  I really had fun using this weapon.  I’m glad to have finished this project however, because there is a lot of demand for good stalker videos and I’m busy building some footage up and will hopefully have it edited and released in another week or so!  Till then, enjoy this one 🙂

Updates, and cheating on infiltrator

I’m really happy with the direction PS2 is taking. The new content, even if minor so far since optimization, has revitalized the game. I’m seeing more players back and trying out new strategies. Alerts are pretty fun most of the time, and the outfit is doing well overall.

The galaxy and sunderer squad spawning changes have been my favorite change by far. It adds a totally new dynamic to the game, and allows for creative squad play as well as a reason to fight for control of the skies. I love it.

Lately I’ve decided to take a small auraxium detour on some other classes. I struggled for a while to play light assault well, as I’d always get picked off before reaching good spots, or lose many 1v1’s that I’d win with an SMG or as a HA. I’m getting much better at moving with a jetpack and making smart positioning choices. Medic class is very fun to play as I get access to some amazing assault rifles in the TR, as well as the ability to heal myself, carry c4 and revive my buds. I’ve been killing maxes, reviving masses of players and going on mad killstreaks with medic, it’s so much fun.

A huge part of my success with the carbines and assault rifles come from using the SOAS-20. That rifle teaches you how to aim, burst fire and conserve ammo. Those attributes transfer over to the other weapon classes very easily, and have allowed me to pick up these weapons with success. So far I’ve auraxium’d the TAR, cycler TRV, Jaguar, NS-11A. Working on the SABR-13 (really fun weapon!), NS-11C and T1 Cycler (default medic gun). My favorite so far are the T1 cycler (Surprising accurate and deadly!) and the NS-11A. I tend to use the compensator/foregrip combo and ADS a lot.

So that’s all for now. The game remains a ton of fun for me, and I’m glad to see some new content coming down the pipeline. I can’t wait for the infiltrator update, you can expect me to cert everything out immediately and start racing to auraxium all the things. I will also be spending time with all the new cert lines and writing reviews as I can.

Lastly, I made a new video this week, but I’m going to hold off on releasing it until next week.  I’m trying to average 2 vids per month and I don’t want to pump them out too quickly and risk burnout.

Until next time,

Mustarde
